What about using armocromy to create with wool colors?
I thought I would start writing a series of articles to tell you about wool, alpaca, cashmere and colors by getting help from this now very fashionable “technique” that reveals to us several rules that are the basis of many artistic creations, not to be addicted to it and live it in a dogmatic way, but simply to use it to the advantage of our creativity!
What is Armocromy?
This “technique” (in English it has a more intuitive name Color Analysis) seems to me a bit far-fetched to call it a science, even though it is based on measurable and verifiable parameters, it allows us to define which colors enhance us and which do not
It has become all the rage in recent years, and in Italy in particular, thanks must be said to Rossella Migliaccio, who has written several books on the subject.
In fact, Armochromy has been used for years in various artistic contexts because all it does is apply on the person the rules of color that great artists have always used in the history of art and painting.
By convention people are divided into seasons: Winter, Summer, Fall and Spring and each of these seasons is given a set of colors called a Palette, we will thus have:
- Winter Palette,
- Summer Palette,
- Fall Palette,
- Spring Palette.
What are the parameters that are analyzed to figure out what season you are according to Armocromy?
The most important thing to know is that the analysis is done on the basis of the skin undertone, i.e., complexion color, and no it does not have anything to do with, except secondarily (i.e., to assess subgroups) hair color, eye color, or even secondarily what month you were born 😅
There are 4 parameters that will be measured and each one is an independent variable…that is, it does not depend on the others, then distributing them on the Cartesian axes where on the X-axis we have the Temperature and on the Y-axis the intensity we will be able to determine the season to which we belong.
Here are the parameters:
- Temperature: which can be Cold or Hot
To understand this you have to use red cloths, they are different types of red warm (the more orangey ones) and cool (the more purplish ones) depending on how our skin responds we will fall into a family. If any doubts remain, the Joker is to evaluate the color Gold and Silver - Intensity: which can be high or low
To understand this we use cloths of Green color with different levels of intensity and presence of yellow or blue - Contrast: Which can be high or low
Striped cloths should be used to understand this: Black and White to define high contrast and Tones of Gray for low contrast - Finally, the Value: : Which can be high, low or medium
This is a parameter that evaluates by eye, but to understand it we can think about the negative of our photo and estimate how much black ink it would take to make it
So are you ready to find out more and get to know your friendly colors? And above all start knitting wool alpaca and whatever you want according to your palette?
