Eyelets in needlework: how many types are there and how to make them?

the very important thing is that eyelets should be well planned in the design phase. Important is to evaluate both the distance from the edge but also their shape. We can divide eyelets into 3 families:

Horizontal Eyelets

Is the simplest one and presents little difficulty in implementation

Vertical Eyelets

It is preferred to be chosen when the edges are made with vertical stitches (ribs or braided patterns)

Round eyelets

They are tiny and perfect for baby garments.
To make this we can use an iron or crochet, let’s see how?

Horizontal Eyelet:

How to:

In the destined stitch weave a few stitches (the number depends on the size of your button). In the return needle start the same number of stitches with English Start (if you don’t know the technique here is the dedicated video: English Start).

Horizontal single-iron eyelet:

When to use it:

This variation is useful if you are doing a job or otherwise in the next iron you need to change colors.

How to:

In the needleyou are working close with the crochet hook the number of meshes you have set. Always start an equal number of stitches in the same iron and continue normally

 

Vertical eyelet:

How to:

Divide the work into 2 parts, and proceed separately on each part.

Having obtained the desired height for the eyelet, bring the two parts of the work together on a single iron and continue working over the entire iron in the normal way

Using the same yarn, finish the eyelet opening with a tight festoon stitch.

Round eyelet

How to:

At the point where you wish to make the eyelet, work one stitch straight and then cast off (turn the yarn over the iron) and take 2 stitches together straight.

In the return iron work the cast as it appears

 

 

 

Cut Eyelet

You forgot the eyelet, you can catch up:

Using scissors, cut the links in the center of the loop you want to make

Using the crochet hook, close the remaining loose stitches in half a low stitch, first on the lower side and then successively on the upper side.
